The list of classic cars restored, repaired and recommissioned at Classics by Jim Stokes Workshops is hugely varied. Every major project that comes in to our workshop is different requiring a full assessment to establish exactly what work needs to be carried out. Once this has been done outline costs are established and with the owners approval the project can begin.
From Austins to Z1 BMWs and everything in between. Whether a Land Rover showing all of it's hard lived years or a barn find recommission of an iconic '80's hot hatch, we love getting old cars running and driving exactly as they should...

Ford Escort Mk1 RS2000
Having travelled to us from Jersey this original RS2000 arrived with boxes of of new old stock genuine parts that the owner had been collecting in anticipation of just such restoration. Having stripped the car to a shell an extensive program of panel replacement was discovered to be needed. Once returned to as new condition, the engine was fully rebuilt and the car reassembled before returning to the Channel Islands prepared to concours standard.
Land Rover Series 1
Brought to us by it's new owner this fabulous looking Land Rover had apparently been subject to a complete mechanical overhaul. However, during our inspection it became quickly clear that little had been done and that which had, had been done very badly. A complete mechanical restoration was the only route: The engine required a full rebuild such was it's poor condition and the steering, suspension and brakes were all found to be in a dangerous condition, requiring complete rebuild. Thankfully we were instructed to leave the bodywork exactly as it was, showing every one of it's 60+ years.
Renault 5 GT Turbo
After almost 15 years stashed away in a barn in the Midlands it was time for this legedary hot hatch to get back on the road. No car enjoys not being used and this French pocket rocket was no different. Thorough inspection revealed the need for a top end rebuild on the engine, complete brake renewal, suspension rebulid, electrical issues resolving and very small amount of welding carried out. This, with the replacement of some hard to find trim and a thorough clean resulted in fantastically original example of a car revered across Europe and beyond.
